The dark teak  Klasik Square dining table is unique as it is an extremely sociable table as there is no traditional ‘head of the table area’ – you can comfortably fit 8 people around it all facing each other.

Why is contemporary furniture now popular ?

Changing trends in furniture design have seen a huge move towards the modern and contemporary and the more traditional interiors have suffered. What is happening now, particularly in London, is that a lot of interiors are contrasting light with dark, contemporary form with natural materials, fusing east with west. This is achieved using dark exotic furniture to contrast with light interiors ie walls and floors. This contrasting utilising dark modern furniture is becoming more and more popular now.

Who is it popular with ?

Everything that is Interior design led is fusing the contrasting dark wood furniture with the light interiors. More and more furniture companies, particularly the modern ones are now offering a dark wood range as well as their already established lightwoods. Property developers now always use modern dark wood furniture in their show homes and catalogues because it makes the property feel more exclusive and expensive.

Which pieces go well in the contemporary dining room ?

Either the Classic Rectangular Dining table or the Classic Square dining table will go equally well in the contemporary dining room, depending upon the size and shape of the room. The perfect accompaniment to the dining tables within the dining room environment would be a 2 or 3 door side-unit along one wall, again, all depending upon size of the room. You may prefer to have either a contemporary or traditional console with some associated Puji accessories on.

If space is tight then opt for a pair of side tables with accompanying Puji lamps. Floor standing Puji lamps or large dark hyacinth floor vases with a handful of dried bamboo twigs sprouting from them provide a dramatic element to any room.

Because this range is made from reclaimed teak they are designed to be more traditional giving them a chunky countrified kitchen feel – the wood is steeped in history with sporadic and inconsistent markings from its long journey through life. Our natural fibre covered chairs, such as the Banana chair or Croco weave are very popular and perfectly complement the Henry dining table.

Caring for your furniture

All solid wood furniture is very beautiful especially solid teak and it requires an element of maintenance in order for the furniture to keep looking its best. The easiest form of weekly maintenance is to simply rub the furniture down with a dry duster. For additional maintenance and constant rehydration of the wood surface it is recommended that re-waxing every 2-3 weeks would maintain a beautiful satin finish.

Please remember that the more the furniture is waxed and polished then the more shiny the surface appearance would be. Please note that it is not recommended to place any heat source on your furniture i.e. do not place hot coffee cups directly onto the surface of your furniture.
