Extra-firm mattress with a 12.5 gauge spring unit, layers of wool felt padding, covered in traditional striped ticking and hand-tufted. Excellent value, and a wonderful night’s sleep for medium to heavy adults. In fact, ideal for anyone who prefers an extra-firm mattress.
Open coil is the 'standard' construction method used for good quality mattresses, and firmer examples of these are more commonly known as Orthopaedic mattresses. These mattresses contain springs of about 3 inch diameter, clipped together at top and bottom, enclosed within a metal rod framework. This unit supports your weight. Layers of padding then cover the top and bottom of the unit so the springs cannot be felt.
