Over the past few decades Asian decorating has been growing more and more popular in the Western world, much of this is due to its simplicity and subtle materials such as bamboo and silks, as well as the elegance of the darker woods. This styling remains a firm favorite for those who prefer a modern style of home with simple, liquid lines, high quality and above all functionality. For those of you who love the simple clean lines of oriental styling Puji also offer the Klasik Range. This solid reclaimed Teak range offers a fine hand sanded wood grain within a contemporary and minimalist design. Having no traditional over hangs, stressed edging or brass handles. The Klasik range will bring elegance into any home, it offers a beautiful deep dark brown finish which is hand waxed, modern tapered legs and brushed chrome handles.
Puji also offer an ethical and sustainably produced Oriental home accessories including mirrors, platters, vases, and tableware and rattan basket ware. We focus on sustainable production techniques by using bamboo, rattan and natural lacquer to create the designs. A traditional Vietnamese lacquer-ware technique is followed, which is one hundred percent natural and takes up to ninety days to produce a single bowl. The lacquer is extracted from the rhus succedaneum tree, and we use bamboo as it grows 3 times faster and produces 30% more oxygen than the average tree. Recycled eggshell and mother of pearl are then used to decorate the range. This design style is a fusion of East meets West, mixing flare and colour with clean simple lines.
All of the oriental accessory designs we stock are made in small workshops by skilled artisans. This means that each piece is unique. As a company we believe in supporting cultural sustainability. All of the artisan workers are paid as a co-operative - fairly and equally and we support companies that invest in local communities in Vietnam and offer training programmes.
