Rattan woven chairs and banana chairs are very popular because unlike solid wood, the natural fibres are slightly flexible, which allows some movement when you sit down. Both the seat and the back are wrapped in the fibres which make the chairs more comfortable than wooden chairs, and they make the ideal seat for long dinner parties.

The colours of the natural fibres are not consistently the same, which means that each chair has an individual character. The texture is very different than smooth wood and these chairs bring an exotic feel to your home.

Woven chairs are primarily designed for the dining room in both contemporary and traditional rustic styles. The natural fibre chairs go equally well in conservatory style areas.

Banana Chairs

Banana chairs are made from Banana leaves from the banana tree. The leaves are cut, stretched and twisted then boiled and left to dry. Once dry they are woven around a teak frame. Once completed the banana leaves are fumigated and sprayed with a semi satin lacquer in order to allow the chairs to be easily cleaned. Click here to view.

Rattan Woven Chairs (Croco Chairs)

The rattan woven chairs (croco chairs) are made in a similar way except the croco reed is much more brittle and thinner which creates a much different texture and feel. The croco reeds are all different colours so each chair has a slightly individual appearance.  Click here to view.

Teak Chairs

As with all of our teak products, the teak wood used to make our chairs is of the highest quality, and comes from sustainable teak forests in Java, Indonesia. Caring for your furniture

All Puji products have been designed to last. However because they are quality products they do require a small amount of love and attention to keep them looking at their best. The natural fibre style chairs are ‘sealed’ and therefore waterproofed which makes them ideal for cleaning with a damp cloth. The teak chairs can be kept clean by dusting with a clean duster, and these require waxing and polishing about once a month to maintain their satin sheen finish. We will be happy to advise on suitable waxing products if required.
