Solid Wood Beds
Solid Wooden Beds
Our luxurious solid wood beds complement all types of homes, both contemporary and traditional. As we sleep an average of eight hours a night, your bed is an essential addition to your home and is the most important piece of furniture you will buy.
Here at Puji we have a wide range of beautifully crafted solid wood beds that are gorgeous to look at, sturdy and will last a lifetime. Our wooden bed collection consists of designs that show off the stunning natural grain in the reclaimed hard woods they are built from and they are created using traditional mortise and tenon joints. Each is carefully crafted and finished and will make a wonderful addition to your home.
Not only is solid wood furniture striking to look at, but also it is also hard wearing and long lasting. Our range of solid wood furniture includes pieces made from Teak - which is a hardwood imported from Indonesia. This can be supplied as light natural teak beds, or stained to a dark wood finish. We also have a range of other solid wood beds made from walnut, mahogany and alder wood finished with a black lacquer.

Teak
At Puji we use reclaimed teak, which gives our furniture a depth of history and character. Teak is a very high quality hardwood with a wonderful rich golden brown colour, which sometimes has a reddish tint. Its toughness, attractive surface appearance and tactile texture make it a popular choice for high quality, long lasting furniture.
Our reclaimed teak is made from old-growth wood, which is often over 40 years old. In Indonesia, old Colonial buildings are being torn down and replaced by more modern constructions. We reclaim the teak from these aged buildings and reuse it to make a wide range of reclaimed wood furniture. In some cases reclaimed teak has been well seasoned and aired for over a century. This adds to the robustness of the timber and means that the wood is unlikely to warp or crack. It also gives it its stunning rustic weathered look that adds a marvellous piece of history to your home.
Walnut
Walnut wood is tough, durable and is considered as one of the finest hardwoods. It is appreciated for its strength, the beauty of its grain and its ease of use and has a wide range of suitability including flooring, interior trim, doors, bowls, architectural woodwork and fine furniture. It is the preferred choice for gunstocks because of its hardness and shock resistance. This together with its attractive appearance means that it is also a good raw material for craft workers carrying out intricate carvings. It is seen as the most prized of North American hardwoods.
Mahogany
Mahogany is an attractive, high quality wood known for its reddish brown colour, although younger wood is reddish, pinkish or salmon coloured. It polishes to a high lustre and is a leading wood for fine carpentry, joinery, sculpture, yacht trims, veneer, piano and other musical instruments.
Mahogany is known for its beauty in colour and is durable with exceptional working characteristics. Its texture is fine to medium with uniform to interlocking grain that can differ from straight, to wavy or curly. It was first spotted in the late 16th century by a worker on board Sir Walter Raleigh's ship to the West Indies.
Alder Wood
Alder wood is a stable hardwood, which is an attractive brownish orange, although it is of a whitish colour when cut. It is frequently used in furniture and cabinet making. Once regarded as a maple substitute, advances in milling and kiln technology gave it a natural use as a hardwood for furniture and carpentry.
Alder wood has a high durability, warmth and texture. It has good finishing characteristics and can be used in its natural state or stained to imitate other woods, such as cherry. It can also be used as a character wood.
Our Shanxi furniture range is made from alder and then lacquered many times to create contemporary oriental style furniture.
